The Mississippi Supreme Court explicitly based its account of the crime on Bullock’s written confession, see Bullock v. State, 391 So. 2d 601, 605, cert. denied, 452 U. S. 931 (1981), in which Bullock stated only that Tucker killed Dickson, and that he, Bullock, had no intention of robbing Dickson. Tr. 387-390.
